When you are middle-aged, you are conservative, because you have money and want to keep it. When you are old, you are socialist because you need someone to look after you.” I always laughed when people said this to me as a critique of my political views, because what they’re really saying is the only time in a person’s life that they are not a leftist is when they are at their most selfish.
